Season's Greetings

"Suddenly a great company of the heavly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favour rests.' "
Luke 2:13, 14

Just a quick note to wish you all a wonderful Christmas Day as we remember the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May you have a safe and happy holiday season, and God's continued blessings in 2009!

The boys are trying out their new pjs that Santa (actually Mom) made for them.

Our new backyard furniture

This past fall I found an ad in the paper for a wooden playground set, and they were only asking $100. Jay and I went to look at it. It was in good shape mostly, and I convinced Jay to get it for the boys. It was a real pain to get it out of the backyard that it was in, load it into a big truck, and bring it to our house. Thanks to the guys for helping us with it. It wasn't that heavy was it?
The boys use it often. You should see how fast their dump trucks go flying down the slide!

Mom, can I lick off the beater?

Remember when you were a kid and Mom would bake? We would always want to lick off the beaters. It always seemed like Mom had to pretty much clean them off before we got to lick them clean.

Owen and Zach enjoy this too. And I guess I've turned into a Mom as well, because I almost clean the beater off before they get to lick it clean. And the boys complain about it just like Ian and I use to!

UNO

Owen received UNO for his birthday, and is very much enjoying it. He likes to play against Jay and I, and is often the winner. He gets so excited playing, and has lots of fun using the pick up 2 cards and especially the pick up 4 cards. He's even at the point where he'll trick people by holding his last two cards on top of each other so that when someone tries to catch him not saying UNO, he just grins and shows that there's another card.

When Zach and Owen stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's house at the end of November, they would play UNO at coffee time in the afternoon. 4:00 is UNO time!

From the Mouths of Babes (or Boys)

Last night we were away for supper. I was trying to keep Noah content by sharing my soup with him, while trying to convince Owen he had to eat his soup. He said he didn't like the tomatoes in his bowl.

I said to him that I didn't always like everything in my bowl either but I still ate it. Owen just looked at me with big eyes and said "No you don't, you just give it to Noah!!".

Stinker. He got out of eating his soup.

PS - Sorry Jess. Tomatoes are not Owen's favourite. Cooked carrots are not my favourite either - but Noah did like them ;)

It's About Time...

...that I update! We've been busy, but then who hasn't??
Owen started Kindergarten this fall, and is thoroughly enjoying it. Now he is forever writing things down, which involves much "Mom, how do you spell...?". His report card was great (he's only failing calculus!!)

Owen and his class (and several of us Moms) went on a trip to the pumpkin patch. Here's Owen picking out his own pumpkin to take home.

Zach doesn't mind at all that Owen goes off to school. I think he enjoys having Mom and Noah all to himself for the day.

In September we hosted Jay's work BBQ. Perfect opportunity for a pig roast! It was a rainy day, so the guys pulled the roaster into the gazebo. They got the coals nice and hot - and we almost lost the gazebo because of a spark finding a bird's nest. What a funny sight to see three guys scrambling to put the fire out!! It all turned out well and we ended up with this:
Noah turned one (already!!) this fall. Here's a messy shot for you Grandpa! Enjoying his birthday (cup)cake. He just picked it up and sucked on it until it was gone.

I'll do another post soon - with pics from our trip to Punta Cana!

Spring has sprung...

I guess it's time to update my blog! The last picture shows lots of snow, and today is is very hot and humid. It's about time for an update.

It's been interesting seeing what plants are coming up in our gardens this year. So far there are not too many surprises; there are also lots of weeds. Our lilac bushes bloomed very nicely this year. Too bad the lilacs don't last very long inside.

We went for a hike around the fields the other night. We found a large patch of trilliums blooming in the trees. There were pink ones too.

Very pretty!

Noah didn't last the whole hike. He had a good nap though.

The boys are enjoying the outdoors. They didn't even want to leave their bikes for a snack.

We went camping on the May long weekend in Belwood. Who's bright idea was that? Actually it's more like how dumb are we to fall for it again! We woke up Monday morning to snow - actual blizzard like-conditions! It didn't stop Jay from going in the hot tub.

We did have a good time, even though it was quite cold and windy. Next time it's down south I think. No one's falling for snow again next time!

Noah is growing bigger. He's getting a little chunky now. He is getting up on all fours, but has yet to make next step and crawl now.

PS - I'm not sure what's up with all these extra spaces. I'll have to figure it out later.

Yes, we're still alive!

Winter has arrived! We are in a snow, melt, and then snow some more cycle. Here's a picture of the backyard around sunrise. The snow was sitting on everything, including the bird feeder.

We are still around and keeping busy these days. Here are a few highlights of the last few months.

On Christmas Eve Day, we went skating with some of Jay's family, and then had a pizza party at our house - lots of people, lots of pizza! Owen skated with Jay, but he didn't really enjoy it. That will come, we hope. Zach skated on his boots, and enjoyed that just fine.

The boys enjoyed some extra Dad-time, since Jay had some holidays around Christmas.

Santa also made a visit one night while we were in bed. The boys had been wondering how he would know where we lived. They thought maybe their presents would end up at the old house and Uncle Ian would have to bring them over. We assured him that Daddy had emailed Santa that we'd moved. Then they wondered how he would get in the house since we don't have a chimney.

The morning after he came, we told the boys to go check under the tree. We heard Owen say "What? He did get in!" They couldn't figure out how, but after they saw some presents, they didn't really care how he got in. The boys enjoyed their gifts (which included these puzzles), and couldn't wait for Noah to get up so he could open, I mean they could open his gifts. Noah was thrilled with them, can't you tell?

Noah is still quite a content little guy, and is settling into a nice routine. He is willing to smile for anyone that gives him attention. His latest weigh-in put him over 13 lbs, so we're not at all worried that he's suffering. He's sleeping quite long nights, but still needs/wants a feed in the middle of the night at times.

He is surviving his brothers; yes, they have learned to be gentle. What a bunch of trouble!

Enjoy! Talk to you later...Linda

PS - I almost forgot - Happy Hockey Day in Canada. The Leafs are winning 1-0 right now.
